Holiday caravan parks - reduced service
Holiday caravan parks are closed due to government restrictions to slow down the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Because of this, you will not be able to fully use the services you are paying for in your contract, and the terms of your written agreement with the park owner might not be entirely fulfilled.
During this period you will not be able to enjoy spending time at your holiday caravan.
Your written agreement will detail what period your holiday caravan season covers, and this is usually when you are able to visit the caravan park.
However, park owners are unable to fully provide normal services at present in that they are unable to make the park available for you to visit (through no fault of their own), so you could try to negotiate a reasonable pitch fee payment settlement for the affected period of time with the park owner.
If you’re experiencing current financial issues you may also ask about the following:
are there any payment options to help you?
can you switch to a monthly payment?
could you pay half now, half later?
Seeking reduced pitch fees
If you’ve already paid pitch fees for the season, or will be making payments in future, you may wish to contact the caravan park owner to agree some reimbursement of fees already paid, or a revision of due fees, relating to the time the caravan park is closed.
As the park is closed due to extraordinary circumstances, the fault does not lie with either you or the park owner. It could be argued that the contract has become frustrated.
Given these extraordinary circumstances, you might seek to compromise with the caravan park owner in agreeing a revised pitch fee for the affected period of time.
You should consider that in the current circumstances the site owner is still, at the very least, providing safe storage of your caravan.
You will also need to consider that your obligation under the contract requires the payment of pitch fees and by not paying you could potentially be in breach of contract.
We will not be making any monetary decisions until the end of the season when we know what help we have received from the Government, refunds etc then we will be in contact with you.
Please note - site rent should have been paid 1/2 in November 2019, and in full by 1st April 2020. If you have not yet paid your rent in full and have not already spoken to Tracy, please arrange for payment as soon as possible....we are still working and have bills to pay including security who are keeping your vans safe in these difficult times. Mowing and strimming and other maintenance is still being carried out.
We would like to thank all the guests who have paid their site rents in full and are supporting us to ensure there is a caravan park to come to!
The gates will be locked and will stay that way until further notice. Please respect this.
We thank you in advance for your understanding, and we hope you all stay safe and healthy. If everyone obeys the government recommendations we will hopefully be open as soon as possible.
